Merida to Westside

COMMITMENT TO RELIABLE SERVICE

In our effort to continually enhance the reliability of our service, we routinely evaluate our systems and rebuild when needed.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

We are rebuilding an existing single circuit 138 kV transmission (power) line between our Merida and Westside Substations. The transmission line route will be four miles long and begin near the Westside Substation, near the intersection of Ruiz St. and San Joaquin Ave. The line proceeds south and turns east along Ceralvo St. The line then turns north on Cupples Rd. and then turns east on Merida St. to the Merida Substation.

This project involves completely removing and rebuilding the transmission line including foundations, transmission structures (poles) and electrical wires. The existing lattice (webbed) structures will be replaced with steel poles. Customers along Ceralvo St. and Merida St. may experience short unavoidable outages during construction.

ESTIMATED TIMELINE

Construction will begin November 2018. Scheduled completion date is May 2019.
