System Maintenance: Starting on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 8 p.m., and continuing through Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 5 a.m., we will be performing maintenance on our systems. During this time, Manage My Account, all other web portals, customer alert notifications, and our automated phone system will be unavailable. EZ Pay credit card payment processing and bill visibility in Manage My Account will be unavailable. We will still be able to process emergency gas and electric requests by calling 210-353-HELP (4357) or 1-800-870-1006.
Guide to home EV charging
Most electric vehicle (EV) drivers charge at home 80% of the time, allowing them to start each day with a "full tank." Different charging levels require unique equipment and provide varying speeds. For more information about EV charging, read the EV charging guide published by the Electric Power Research Institute. When setting up home charging, a licensed electrician should install the equipment and verify that your electrical panel can handle the load. Timing is also critical. While EVs reduce carbon emissions, they change when and how our community uses electricity. Local energy demand typically peaks weekdays between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Charging during off-peak hours helps manage grid demand as more people switch to EVs.
Charge smart and save with EV charging rewards
We launched two vehicle rewards programs — EV Smart RewardsSM and EV Off-Peak RewardsSM — to give financial incentives to EV drivers who charge during low-demand, off-peak hours. The EV Smart Rewards program is open to drivers with qualifying electric vehicles or charging equipment. If you do not have an eligible vehicle or charging device, you can still enroll in the EV Off-Peak Rewards program.
For questions, customers can call the CPS Energy EV team at 210-353-2728, option 7.
EV Smart Rewards
Enrolled EV drivers will receive a $30 bill credit and can earn an additional $10 monthly credit by using automated smart charging schedules managed by WeaveGrid. The system automatically shifts charging to low-demand times to reduce grid strain and lower energy costs. Participants can track their spending and energy use through a personalized online dashboard. Eligibility rules, qualified EV models, and approved home charging equipment are found below.
EV Off-Peak Rewards
For customers with eligible EV charging devices, that don’t want to participate in a managed charging program, you can also enroll in our Off-Peak Rewards Program managed by WeaveGrid. Participants will receive a one-time $30 utility bill credit upon enrolling in the EV Off-Peak Rewards program and committing to off-peak charging. Drivers can earn an additional $5 monthly incentive each month they charge at home at least once and charge during Off-Peak hours.

Non-Eligible EV Charging Devices
For customers that don’t have an eligible device, you can still enroll in our CPS Energy Off-Peak Rewards Program. Upon enrolling in the EV Off-Peak Rewards program and committing to off-peak charging, participants will receive a one-time $30 utility bill credit. Drivers may earn an additional $5 monthly credit by limiting charging to no more than twice during peak demand periods. For this program, peak hours are Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Charging around town
Many electric vehicle drivers adopt an approach known as ABC — always be charging — and plug in whenever equipment is available. Topping off the battery reduces the likelihood of "range anxiety," which is the fear of running out of power before reaching a destination. Information on infrastructure locations is available through the U.S. Department of Energy's EV Charging Station Locator.
