EV Offer 5

Electric vehicles (EV) are convenient because you can charge at home and when you are out and about.  It takes about 20 seconds to perform your part of charging – 10 seconds to plug in, and 10 seconds to unplug your EV.  In between, you are free to do something else, like sleep, shop, or work.

Charging at Home

For the majority of EV drivers, you’ll charge at home about 80% of the time. Charging at home means you can leave with a “full tank” every morning.

Different levels of charging at home are achieved with different equipment, and result in different charging speeds. If you'd like to learn more about EV charging, read this informative charging guide. Contact a licensed electrician to verify that your breaker is sufficient and to install the charging equipment you purchase.

When you charge is important too.  Our community’s demand for energy is usually highest between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  So, it’s better to charge your EV during off-peak times when the demand for energy is lower, especially as the number of people driving and charging EVs increases.

We’ll have new FlexEVSM programs for charging at home available during Spring of 2021 to save you money for charging during off-peak hours. Let us know if you want to be notified of upcoming programs by clicking "keep me informed" button below.

Charging Around Town

We have more than 100 local charging stations in our FlexEVSM Public Charging program’s ChargePoint® Network.  With our Flat Rate Pilot Program’s low annual fee of $96, you get unlimited access to our charging stations at any time of day or night.  If you don’t subscribe to the Flat Rate Pilot Program, you can still use the charging stations on a Pay As You Go basis.

Many EV drivers embrace the ABC – ALWAYS BE CHARGING approach and plug in whenever a charger is available.  Topping off your battery reduces the chance of range anxiety, the fear of running out of battery charge before you reach your destination.  If you are an ABC driver, or you would charge more than 3 times in an average month, then the Flat Rate Pilot Program is a good fit for you.
