In 2024, CPS Energy has reached several milestones and achieved notable results. These include acquiring gas plants, increasing ownership in the South Texas Nuclear Project, and receiving federal grants for local communities. We are also modernizing our business systems, transitioning to cleaner energy sources, and focusing on grid reliability and customer engagement in energy conservation. With a commitment to maintaining low rates and a recently affirmed Credit Rating, CPS Energy continues to demonstrate resilience and innovation in the energy industry. 

Reliability:

  • March 27, 2024: Purchased 1,710 MW of dispatchable generation. (Read More)

  • April 19, 2024: We received $2.45M in Department of Transportation grant for infrastructure updates. (Read More)

  • April 22, 2024: We partnered with Oracle for a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. (Read More)

  • August 1, 2024: Released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a Spruce 2 gas conversion.

  • December 6, 2024: CPS Energy secured 120 MW of battery energy storage with San Antonio-based developer of clean energy projects, OCI Energy. (Read More)

 

Affordability:

  • March 13, 2024: U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) announced his office secured $1 million for CPS Energy's Casa Verde weatherization program. (Read More)

  • August 26, 2024: The Residential Energy Assistance Partnership Gains Additional Financial Support to Assist More Customers.  (Read More)

  • September 11, 2024:  We enhanced our Customer Payment Options. New additions to our Ways to Pay include Apple Pay, Google Pay, E-Payment Center (e-wallet), American Express, Pay by Text, and Future Dated Payments. (Read More)
  • December 12, 2024: We've introduced another new payment option: In-Store Retail Payments. This feature allows customers to pay their utility bills conveniently at the checkout counter of select retail locations. (Read More)

Sustainability:

  • May 1, 2024: We acquired gas plants in Corpus Christi and Laredo from Talen Energy to transition to cleaner energy sources. (Read More)

  • May 6, 2024: We increased our ownership in the South Texas Nuclear Project (STP) by 2% for carbon-free generation. (Read More)

  • June 4, 2024: Added 84 MW of Wind - Avangrid’s Peñascal Wind Farm. (Read More)
