SaveNow - Save for Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP)

We offer SaveNow energy savings programs and rebates, through our Save for Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP); to help our residential and business customers save energy and money as well as reduce the overall demand for energy in our community.

STEP provides financial incentives to residential and commercial customers to save energy and reduce electric use. STEP began in 2009 and challenged us to reduce our community's energy demand by 771 Megawatts (MW) by 2020, which is roughly the equivalent of a large power plant. We exceeded our STEP goal one year ahead of time and under budget.

STEP helped save our customers 6.3 Terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity, and over $553 million in savings. In 2019, STEP saved enough energy to power over 104,000 homes, and provided 680 annual jobs.

The STEP Bridge program continues the STEP programs with a goal to reduce an additional 75MW of energy demand during 2020. STEP Bridge provides for continuity of customer programs as we transition into FlexSTEP.

CPS Energy is seeking your feedback on FlexSTEP. We are looking at a dynamic, flexible program for promoting efficiency and new technology that builds on STEP’s proven model for delivering energy savings and empowering customer choice. FlexSTEP balances the tried and true with new, clean and innovative product offerings. Provide your input to FlexSTEP program opportunities at cpsenergy.com/STEPSURVEY.
