- If you have medical equipment that requires electricity or medicine that needs refrigeration, check with your doctor when making your plan.
- In the case of a wildfire, downed power lines can be hidden by trees, or other debris. Always assume a downed power line is live. If you see a downed power line, stay away and call CPS Energy immediately at 210-353-4357 (HELP).
Preventing Wildfires
- CPS Energy works to maintain vegetation in its service territory and continues to conduct pole inspections to help mitigate wildfire risks.
- When there’s heightened fire danger, CPS Energy will temporarily modify operating standards. This helps to reduce our electric system from becoming a source of ignition.
- What does this mean? Additional field checks will be required after an outage, so you may experience longer than usual restoration times.
- Please note, that this does not mean CPS Energy is proactively turning off customers’ power.
- Our primary focus is your safety and the safety of our crews, and we ask for your patience during these times, as we work in potentially hazardous conditions.
- In the case of outages, CPS Energy will continue sending customers periodic outage updates. We encourage you to follow us on social media, local news, and radio, and through our website for the most up-to-date status of outages.
- The safety of our community and employees is essential, so please remember #SafetyFirst and follow us on our Facebook and X pages to remain up to date with the latest information.
