Flexible PathSM Survey Final Results

We conducted two surveys that were available on our website from July 2019 through June 2021. The results from both surveys are presented below.

FlexPOWER BundleSM Survey Final Results

As of June 30, 2021

We had a total of 1,156 customers respond to at least one question on this survey. Of these respondents, 51% ranked “Affordability” as their most important energy consideration. Additionally, 18% ranked “Energy Reliability” as their top energy consideration, and 17% chose “Environmental Responsibility” as their leading consideration. Fewer than 10% of the respondents favored “Safety,” “Security,” or “Energy Resilience.” Survey respondents also were asked about their familiarity with CPS Energy’s programs and initiatives: 707 respondents answered this question, while 449 customers elected not to answer. This question allowed respondents to select multiple programs and initiatives. Of the 707 customers who answered the question, 82% indicated they are familiar with our Energy Rebates. Half are familiar with Weatherization (51%), Community Solar (50%), and Wind Power (48%). Also, a large number of respondents are familiar with the Deely Coal Unit Closure (36%); Flexible Path (33%); Save For Tomorrow Energy Plan (31%) and Energy Storage (25%). While a smaller amount, 18% indicated they are familiar with FlexPOWER Bundle.

Each chart represents a question asked on the survey.

A total of 1,120 customers have responded to at least one question on the survey.  Some of the key findings include:

  • 24% indicated they had participated in a STEP program.
  • 59% identified at least one program in which they had participated, when asked about specific programs by name (ie. solar panels, HVAC rebates, lighting, etc.).
    • This suggests customers do not associate the rebate programs in which they participated as being a part of STEP.
  • The highest frequency of participation was in Wi-Fi Thermostats, Power PlayerSM, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) rebate programs.
  • 83% indicated they were not aware that STEP is funded from their monthly electric bills.
  • 62% indicated a willingness to pay extra to support energy efficiency and conservation programs and initiatives.
    • 47% indicated a willingness to pay an additional $1 - $5 monthly to support such programs.
  • 47% ranked “Affordability” as their most important energy consideration. The next highest ranked considerations were “Environmental Responsibility” at 17%, “Energy Reliability” at 12%, and “Energy Efficiency” at 12%.
