How does the program work?
For Non-WiFi Thermostat participants
- When CPS Energy needs to reduce demand, we’ll send a signal to the thermostat starting a "Conservation Event."
- "During this event, “SAVINGS” will be displayed continuously on the top of the thermostat screen. This is to notify there is a peak event about to occur.
- When the thermostat receives the off command, the thermostat will start flashing “SAVINGS” above the set to temperature.
For Wi-Fi Thermostat participants
- When CPS Energy needs to reduce demand, we’ll send a signal to the thermostat starting a "Conservation Event."
- During this event, the inside temp will be increased to shut off the outside AC unit.
When do these “conservation events” usually happen?
- Events usually happen on weekdays between 3pm to 7pm, May through September, excluding holidays and weekends. However, system emergencies can happen at any time causing an event.
Can I skip an event?
- Utility Pro thermostats - Yes, you may opt-out of an event by calling 1-866-222-7645. Limited to only 3 times per summer.

- Most people don’t notice when a conservation event occurs.

- You always have complete control over how the thermostat is programmed.
How does the Smart Thermostat help me save on my energy bill?
