The Medical Center to Hamilton Wolfe Upgrade Project consists of replacing approximately 1 mile of single circuit 138kV transmission line from the Medical Center Substation to Hamilton Wolfe Substation. The project consists of replacing the energized wire within a 1-mile-long segment of the existing high-voltage transmission lines along Hamilton Wolfe from Floyd Curl Rd to Fredericksburg Rd.

Transmission line infrastructure consists of specially designed structures and wires that move electricity long distances at high voltages from station to station.

The upgrading of the transmission line is necessary to support the accelerating growth in San Antonio. It will also increase the reliability of Texas’ electric grid by adding another path for electric transmission.
