The Howard Road to Leon Creek Transmission Line Project involves the proposal to rebuild approximately 1.8 miles of 138kV transmission line from the Leon Creek Substation to the Howard Road Substation. Transmission lines consist of specially designed structures composed of various materials (wood, concrete, steel, etc.) and wires that move electricity long distances at high voltages from station to station.
The new transmission line is necessary to support the accelerating growth in San Antonio. It will also increase the reliability of Texas’ electric grid by adding another path for electric transmission.
Update 11/11/24: Requesting approval by Board of Trustees at their November 2024 meeting.
Update 11/18/24: Board of Trustees approved the Howard Road to Leon Creek Phase II Project.
